Books have become the gift of choice in our household. I am a book lover and since I was little have disappeared into a book for days. With kids, I still can do it but with a little more self-restraint. I don't forget about my kids so much as other projects and housework (not a big loss, I figure). Mid-January I have already read or started reading quite a number of books and the dark days and dreary weather have given me lots of opportunity to check out the books we gave each other over Christmas. I have enjoyed them all, so here is my recent book list if anyone needs some ideas.
U2 by U2-autobiography/music
"Looking for Alaska" by Peter Jenkins -adventure/travel
"The Adventures of Marco Polo" - travel/history
"No Shortcuts to the Top" by Ed Viesturs - mountaineering/biography
Lloyd Alexander book series, first book, "The Book of Three"-kids fantasy/adventure
Dickens anthology with "Tale of Two Cities", "A Christmas Carol" and others (unabrided)-classic fiction
"Book Lust" by Nancy Pearl-book lists/recommendations
"Curious Geoge" - Margaret and HA Rey
"Fox in Box" Dr. Seuss (we've been practicing all our tongue twisters)
"How to Raise a Brighter Child" - 70s child rearing book from my in-laws library
I'm excited to read the U2 book. Still have not ordered it but might this afternoon if Kev will let me stay on the computer that long. He's pretty jealous of anything electronic that steals my attention from him.
